What is standard, and what the option changes
These are two separate questions with two separate answers. We would rather you had both up front than found the difference in a security review.
Standard on every plan
Your account records, conversation history, generated reports and uploads are stored in AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2), encrypted at rest. plainfra reads your AWS account through a read-only role. AI processing is a separate matter: standard plans use AI providers that may process requests outside Australia.
Australian-only AI processing
Every model call, including reports and background steps, pinned to AWS in Sydney (ap-southeast-2). Billed at US$40 per 1M excess tokens. Available on request, not yet self-serve, so talk to us before you sign anything that depends on it.
Built for a policy, not a badge
plainfra holds no sovereignty certification and this option is not one. It exists because some organisations have an internal policy that says inference happens onshore, and that policy needs a technical answer.
Onshore inference is written into your policy
Your own data handling standard, not a regulator's certificate, is usually what decides this. If it says model calls stay in Australia, the option gives you a configuration that matches.
Your reviewers will ask where processing happens
Security reviewers separate storage from processing, and so do we. Ask us for the security review pack and you get the detail path by path, including the parts that are still outside Australia today.
You need it in writing before you sign
The option is arranged per customer, so the scope, the residual exceptions and the token pricing go into your agreement rather than into a marketing badge.

Email support@plainfra.com. We will send the security review pack, the scope of the option, and the residual exceptions in writing.
